As of 1 January 2007, the Ruhr-Universität became a public corporation. The executive body is the Rectorate, together with other executive committees it carries the responsibility for the organization and development of teaching and research.
Supervisory Board
The Ruhr-Universität Supervisory Board has six external members, whose membership is ratified by the University Senate. As representatives of civil society, the board members have an oversight and supervisory role and elect the non-tenured members of the Rectorate (Rector and Vice-Rectors). Rectorate
The Rectorate is the central executive organ of the university and consists of a Rector, a Chancellor and three Vice-Rectors. Senate
The Senate is the governing body of the University and consists of representatives of the different groups in the university (tenured and non-tenured faculty, technical and administrative personnel, and students). Website of the Senate »
Faculty Council
The Faculty Council coordinates the public presentation of the faculties in accordance with the Ruhr-Universität statutes as well as discussing research and teaching issues that are of general importance for the University. The Council consists of faculty deans. Website of the Faculty Council »
